Privacy Policy

Paari Fiji ("Paari", "we", "us") operates the Paari mobile application and the website paarifiji.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a password (stored in hashed form). Drivers additionally provide a driving licence image and vehicle details (make, model, colour, plate).
- Location data. With your permission, we collect your device's precise location: for riders, to set pickup points and show nearby drivers; for drivers, continuously while online or on an active trip, so riders can track their ride. Location is not collected when the app is closed and you are not on an active trip.
- Trip information. Pickup and destination addresses, route, distance, duration, fare, payment method (cash or M-PAiSA — we never collect or store payment card or wallet credentials), timestamps, and cancellation details.
- Messages. In-app chat messages between riders and drivers during a trip, and messages you send to our support team.
- Ratings. Ratings and comments you give or receive after trips.
- Device information. Device push-notification token (to deliver ride alerts) and basic device/app diagnostics.
- Advertising. The app shows banner advertising served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) and use them as described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can reset or limit ad personalisation in your device settings.
2. How we use your information
To provide the service (matching riders and drivers, live tracking, fare calculation); to keep the platform safe (driver verification, fraud and abuse prevention, enforcing our terms); to communicate with you (ride notifications, account emails, support replies); and to improve the service (aggregate, de-identified usage analysis). We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we share it
- Between riders and drivers: when a trip is matched, the rider sees the driver's name, photo placeholder, vehicle and plate; the driver sees the rider's name and pickup location. Phone numbers are shared between matched rider and driver to enable calls.
- Service providers: we use Supabase (database & authentication hosting), Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Mapbox (maps and routing), Resend (transactional email), and Google AdMob (advertising). Each receives only the data needed to perform its function.
- Legal: we may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. Trip records are retained for record-keeping and dispute resolution. Chat messages are retained with the trip record. If you delete your account, personal data is deleted or de-identified except where we must retain it by law.
5. Your rights & choices
You can access and update your profile in the app; disable location permissions in device settings (the app can't function without location during booking/trips); disable push notifications; and request a copy or deletion of your data at any time by contacting support@paarifiji.com or via paarifiji.com/delete-account.
6. Children
Paari is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored with access controls (row-level security). No system is 100% secure; contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
8. Changes
We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the app.
